Shed & Carport Foundations in Chilliwack

Sheds, carports and garages take a beating from Fraser Valley rain. A foundation that sits on soft, wet ground will shift, and a structure that shifts sticks, leaks and wears out early. Postech helical screw piles carry the load down to firm ground instead.

We install full helical pile foundation systems for new builds, from backyard sheds and carports to garages and additions, throughout Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley. Installation takes hours, not days.

Why screw piles for sheds & carports

No slab, no forms, no curing

Piles replace a poured pad or footings. There is nothing to cure, so you can start building straight away.

Works in wet ground

Piles are driven in mechanically, so rain does not halt the job the way it halts a concrete pour, and the structure sits on firm ground below the soggy surface.

Easy on the yard

A small crew and compact equipment mean far less disruption than excavating and forming a concrete foundation.

Level on uneven ground

Pile heights are adjusted in the field, so the floor or frame can be level on a sloped or uneven site.

The right pile for the job

Light structures such as sheds and carports need fewer and smaller piles than a house addition. We select the pile size, helix and depth for the load and your soil, and our equipment monitors installation torque so we know each pile has reached the strength it was chosen for.

A carport and a deck often share one visit: the same crew and equipment can set the foundations for both. Read more in our article on weatherproofing your BC lifestyle with helical piles.

Built for Fraser Valley ground

The valley floodplain is often sand and gravel, which gives piles excellent bearing. On clay and silt, which is common around Chilliwack farmland, piles are driven past the zone that swells and shrinks with the seasons.

If your yard has tight access or narrow gates, tell us when you send your project details; compact equipment can usually reach where a truck full of concrete cannot.

How installation works

  1. 01

    Mark and check

We mark the pile locations and verify elevation points before the first pile goes in.

  2. 02

    Install and monitor

Each pile is driven in with our equipment, which monitors torque so we can confirm it reaches the soil strength it was chosen for.

  3. 03

    Set to height

Piles are cut or adjusted to the exact height, so your structure starts level, even on sloped ground.

  4. 04

    Build right away

There is no concrete to cure, so your crew can start building as soon as the piles are in.

What a typical project looks like

Tell us where the structure is going, how big it is and what it will hold, and send a few photos of the area. We reply within 24 hours with next steps and arrange a site visit if one is needed.

The crew marks the pile locations, installs the piles, sets them to the right height and checks that everything is level. A shed or carport foundation is usually a matter of hours, and you can build on it right away.

Planning your project

  • Choose the size and position of the structure first. The pile layout follows your floor or frame plan.
  • Say what the structure will carry. A light garden shed, a carport over vehicles and a workshop with heavy equipment need different layouts.
  • Check permit requirements with your municipality. They depend on the size and location of the structure, so confirm before you build.
  • Have underground utilities located before any ground work. BC 1 Call is a free service.
  • Note slopes, soft ground, trees and gate widths so we bring suitable equipment.
“The crew had our deck foundation installed in under 4 hours. No concrete trucks, no mess, no waiting. Absolutely the best experience we've had with any contractor.”

Common questions

Do I need a concrete pad for a shed or carport?
Not with screw piles. The piles take the load directly, and your frame or floor system is built on top of them. We will go over the right layout for your structure when we price the job.
Can piles be installed when the ground is wet?
Yes. Piles are driven in mechanically, so wet weather does not stop the work the way it stops a concrete pour. Heavy rain or flooding can still affect access, so we confirm timing before the crew arrives.
How much does a shed or carport foundation cost?
It depends on the number of piles, the pile size, your soil and how easy the site is to reach. Send your project details and a few photos through the quote form and we will price it, free and with no obligation.
How long does installation take?
Most residential projects are finished in a day, often just a few hours for a shed or carport, and you can usually start building right away because there is no concrete to cure. Larger or more complex jobs take longer, and we'll give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
Will installation tear up my yard?
Far less than concrete would. Piles are installed with compact equipment, with no large excavation, no spoil to haul away and no wet concrete, so lawns and landscaping are disturbed far less.
