Screw Pile Foundations in Chilliwack

Postech Chilliwack is the local authorized Postech dealer, installing helical screw pile foundations in Chilliwack, Sardis, Vedder, Rosedale and Yarrow. A deck in a Sardis backyard, a tiny home on acreage in Rosedale, a shed or carport on a farm property: the foundation goes in within a day, with no concrete to pour or cure.

We are based here, so the crews know the ground, the weather and the way properties are laid out across the city, from town lots to farmland.

Building on Chilliwack ground

Chilliwack sits on the south side of the Fraser River, with the Vedder River and the US border to its south. It is a farming city: about two-thirds of its land is in the Agricultural Land Reserve, and farms, acreages and rural properties sit right alongside the urban neighbourhoods of Chilliwack proper, Sardis, Vedder and Rosedale.

The ground changes from one part of the valley floor to the next. Floodplain areas are often sand and gravel, which holds piles very well. Across the agricultural areas the soil is more often clay and silt. Some low-lying ground has a history of its own: Greendale, at the base of Sumas Mountain, was once part of the bed of Sumas Lake, which was drained in the 1920s to create farmland.

That variety is the reason piles suit this city. Concrete footings are poured on an assumption about what the soil is; a pile is checked as it is installed. Our equipment monitors torque as each pile goes in, so we can confirm it has reached the strength it was chosen for before anything is built on it.

Projects that suit Chilliwack

Before you build in Chilliwack

  • Check permit and drawing requirements with the City of Chilliwack before you plan. They depend on the size and type of structure. We can supply engineering documentation when it is required.
  • If your property is in the Agricultural Land Reserve, check what the Agricultural Land Commission and the city allow before you plan a new structure.
  • Have underground utilities located before any ground work. BC 1 Call is a free service.
  • Send us the address, a description of the project and a few photos of the site, and mention any slope, soft ground or tight access.

Common questions

Which parts of Chilliwack and the area do you serve?
We install across Chilliwack, including Sardis, Vedder and Rosedale, and in nearby communities such as Yarrow, Greendale, Popkum, Bridal Falls, Ryder Lake and Cultus Lake. If you are not sure whether your property is in range, send us the address.
Can you install on a property in the Agricultural Land Reserve?
The piles are installed the same way. Whether a structure is allowed on ALR land depends on the Agricultural Land Commission and the city, so confirm what is permitted before you plan it. We can supply engineering documentation when it is required.
Will wet Chilliwack weather stop the installation?
Piles are driven in mechanically, so rain and cold snaps do not halt the work the way they halt a concrete pour. Heavy rain or flooding can still affect site access, so we confirm timing with you before the crew arrives.
