Postech Exclusive

Thermal Barrier
Technology

Every Postech pile is filled with high-density polyurethane thermal foam during installation — a patented process that eliminates frost heave and condensation, protecting your structure year-round.

How does it prevent frost heave?
The thermal foam creates a continuous insulation barrier inside the steel shaft. This prevents the transfer of cold from the frozen ground to the structure above, eliminating the upward force (frost heave) that damages traditional concrete foundations.
How are the piles protected from corrosion?
All Postech piles are manufactured with high-quality galvanized steel under CWB-conformant welding standards. The zinc coating provides decades of corrosion resistance in all BC soil conditions.
Are Postech screw piles certified in Canada?
Postech has held Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) certification since 2003, conforming with the National Building Code (NBC) and CSA standards. Every installation is backed by engineering documentation.

Straight Talk

Screw Piles vs Concrete

Concrete is still the right call for some jobs — a full slab or a poured basement wall, for example. For decks, additions, sheds, cabins, tiny homes and similar structures, screw piles do the same job faster and with far less mess.

Time on site

Poured Concrete
Several days of work, then a day or two of curing before you can build
Postech Screw Piles
Usually one day — build right after

Digging & mess

Poured Concrete
Excavation, forms, a concrete truck and site cleanup
Postech Screw Piles
No excavation, no spoil, no wet concrete

Weather

Poured Concrete
Rain and freezing temperatures disrupt a pour
Postech Screw Piles
Installed mechanically in most conditions

Frost

Poured Concrete
Footings must be deep enough or they can heave
Postech Screw Piles
Driven below the frost line into stable soil

Load check

Poured Concrete
Capacity relies on design assumptions about the soil
Postech Screw Piles
Torque is monitored as each pile goes in

Later changes

Poured Concrete
Permanent once poured
Postech Screw Piles
Piles can be removed if the structure comes down

Fraser Valley Conditions

Works In Any Soil

01

Sand & Gravel

Common in Fraser Valley floodplains. Excellent bearing capacity with helical piles.

02

Clay & Silt

Cohesive soils found throughout Chilliwack agricultural zones. Our piles anchor past the active zone.

03

Rocky Terrain

Shallow bedrock and glacial till in Columbia Valley and Harrison areas. Pilot-pointed piles penetrate with precision.

04

Organic & Peat

Wetland-adjacent soils near Cultus Lake and Agassiz. Piles reach stable bearing strata below.

Good To Know

Common Questions

Straight answers about cost, timing, weather and warranty. Don't see yours? Ask us — we reply within 24 hours.

Ask Us Directly
How much does a screw pile foundation cost?
It depends on how many piles your project needs, the pile size, your soil, and how easy the site is to reach. A small deck needs far fewer piles than a house addition, so there's no honest flat number. Send us your project details and a few photos through the form below and we'll price it for you — free, with no obligation.
Are screw piles as strong as concrete footings?
For decks, sheds, additions, cabins and other residential and light commercial structures, yes. Each pile is selected for an engineered load capacity, and our installation equipment monitors torque as the pile goes in, so we can confirm it is reaching the soil strength it was chosen for. Concrete is poured based on what the soil is assumed to be; a pile is checked as it is installed.
How long does installation take?
Most residential projects are finished in a day — often just a few hours for a deck or shed — and you can usually start building right away, because there is no concrete to cure. Larger or more complex jobs take longer, and we'll give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
Can piles be installed in winter or in the rain?
Yes. Piles are driven in mechanically, so wet weather and cold snaps don't halt the work the way they halt a concrete pour, and frozen surface ground is usually not a problem because the piles go well below it. Heavy rain or flooding can still affect site access, so we'll confirm timing with you before the crew arrives.
What about sloped yards or tight access?
Pile heights are adjusted in the field, so a structure can be brought to level on sloped ground. For tight backyards and narrow gates we can use compact equipment. Tell us about access when you send your project details and we'll plan around it.
Will installation tear up my yard?
Far less than concrete would. There is no excavation, no spoil pile and no formwork, so lawns, gardens and nearby trees are mostly left alone. Expect a small machine and a crew on site for the day.
What does the warranty cover?
Postech installations carry a limited lifetime warranty against frost heave when they are installed by a certified Postech dealer. Ask us for the written warranty terms before work starts so you know exactly what is and isn't covered.
Can I install Postech piles myself?
No. Postech piles are installed by certified dealers who are trained in equipment calibration, torque verification, load calculation and code compliance. A do-it-yourself installation would not be covered by the warranty and may not meet code for a permitted structure.
Will my building inspector accept screw piles?
Postech piles hold a CCMC evaluation (#13102-R), which building officials across Canada recognize for use under the National Building Code. Permit and drawing requirements still depend on your municipality and your project, so we'll tell you what to expect for your site and can supply engineering documentation when it is required.
How do I get started?
