Cottages & Cabins
Cabin & Cottage Foundations in the Fraser Valley
Cabins and cottages are often built where a concrete truck cannot easily go: on a lakeshore, up a rough road or on a steep, rocky or wooded lot. Postech helical screw piles suit these sites because the equipment is compact, the work is quick and nothing has to be poured.
We install foundations for cottages, cabins and seasonal structures across the Fraser Valley, from Chilliwack and Cultus Lake to Agassiz and Harrison.

Why screw piles for cottages & cabins
Reaches remote and awkward sites
Remote-access capability for lakeside and mountain builds. Compact equipment can be used where access is tight, and no concrete delivery is needed.
Minimal impact on the lot
There is no large excavation and no concrete washout, so trees, roots and natural ground are disturbed far less.
Level on slopes
Each pile can be set to its own height, so a cabin can sit level on a sloping or uneven lot without heavy grading.
Stable through the seasons
Piles reach firm ground below the layers that freeze and thaw, and the thermal foam in the shaft is designed to resist frost heave. One of our Harrison Hot Springs clients reports their cottage has not moved in two winters.
The right pile for the job
Cabin and cottage loads are well within our residential range. The P278 (73.0 mm shaft, up to 25,000 lbs per pile) is our pile for homes and additions; lighter structures can use the P238, and heavier ones the P312.
The pile size, the number of piles and their depth are chosen from your plans and the soil on the lot, and every installation is backed by engineering documentation.
Built for Fraser Valley ground
Rocky terrain and glacial till are common around Harrison and the Columbia Valley. Pilot-pointed piles penetrate with precision where a shovel and a concrete footing would struggle.
Near Cultus Lake and Agassiz the soil can be organic or peaty. Piles pass through the soft layer to stable ground below, which a shallow footing cannot do.
How installation works
- 01
Mark and check
We mark the pile locations and verify elevation points before the first pile goes in.
- 02
Install and monitor
Each pile is driven in with our equipment, which monitors torque so we can confirm it reaches the soil strength it was chosen for.
- 03
Set to height
Piles are cut or adjusted to the exact height, so your structure starts level, even on sloped ground.
- 04
Build right away
There is no concrete to cure, so your crew can start building as soon as the piles are in.
What a typical project looks like
Send us the location (including how you get to it), a description of the cabin and its approximate size, and photos of the lot. We reply within 24 hours with next steps and arrange a site visit if one is needed, which can help on remote or sloping lots.
Pile positions are laid out to your plans. On site the crew installs each pile, adjusts the heights for a level floor and confirms the levels before you start building.
Planning your project
- Share your cabin plans or sketches so the pile positions can follow the floor framing.
- Describe the road and the last stretch of access: width, grade, gates and overhead branches.
- Tell us what you know about the ground: rock, peaty or wet areas, steep slopes and nearby water.
- Check permit requirements with your municipality or regional district. They depend on the location and the project.
- Plan for services early, and have underground utilities located before any ground work. BC 1 Call is a free service.
“Professional from start to finish. The engineering report was thorough and the installation was surgical. Our cottage hasn't moved a millimeter in two winters.”
